Dr. Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology was established in the year of 1998 with the aim to develop manpower in the field of Engineering & Technology to pace with the industrial growth of Haldia. The institute is well approved by AICTE. The academic programme & curriculum is affiliated & directly controlled by West Bengal State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development (WBSCT&VE&SD).The institute is also under the direct administrative control of the Department of Technical Education & Training, Government of West Bengal. The institute upholds the standard of Technical Education by engaging qualified faculties & providing modern facilities. Dr. Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology is situated at City Centre, at the Heart of Haldia,in annexed to Haldia Municipality & Haldia Development Authority. It is in Haldia Sub-Division under Purba Medinipur District Authority of West Bengal. It is about 3 Km from Haldia Station & half Km. from nearest City Centre Bus stop.

How to get there:-

By Train: From Howrah it takes nearly 3.30 hour’s journey by train to reach Haldia station, via Mechada & Panshkura.

By Road: By road, distance from Kolkata is 145 Km. From Esplanade bus depot the direct bus run by Haldia Municipality, takes 2 and half hr. Other private buses come upto Ranichak travelling through Diamond Harbor Road of Kolkata and South 24 Pgs. Thereafter crossing the Haldia river by Haldia Municipality Vessel Service, another bus from Kukrahati to Ranichak is to be taken. Auto Rickshaw or Rickshaw is to be taken to reach Dr.M.S.I.T from Ranichak.

Nearest Important Location: Nearest Town is Durgachak. Haldia Township is another important market place in the surrounding. City Centre, itself is being developed as an important centre for amusement, Shopping, Sports Authority. The Institute is adjacent to a Degree Engineering College, Haldia Institute of Technology and it is 3 Km. apart from Dr. B.C.Roy Medical College & Hospital add Haldia Institute of Dental Science & Research. Other important district Towns like Tamluk, Mechada and Contai are 45 Km., 55 Km., and 83 Km. respectively.

• Campus Overview

  The Institute is situated over a land of 10 acres in clean & green environment. The built up area is 8369 sq.m. The green lustrous environment & quietness of surrounding has created the perfect environment of education. An extension of present campus on a land of 2 acres, is currently running successfully. The Institute also provides Hostel facility for Boys' and Girls’. One Boys' Hostel with a capacity of 96 boarders & a Girls' Hostel with a capacity of 60 boarders are presently run by the Institute.

In the year 2007,it has received the overall Best Polytechnic Award.
